12 months of love!!!

I never got around to posting Everett's 1 year update... and now I am writing this and it is JULY and he is almost 20 months. Major mom fail!!! (I discovered I can change the date of my posts so I can still have them all in order for documentation sake... woohoo!) Anyways, with Thanksgiving and Christmas and his 1st birthday sandwiched in between those two, I fell of the blogging bandwagon! We did take this picture on time and record his weight, height, and favorites... so at least I have that!
As far as milestones... Everett was walking all over the place (and even running some) at his first birthday party. He got a really yucky and scary sickness around 11.5 months. He ran 103.5+ fever and was just so so sick and lethargic. He had to have his blood drawn several times and his white counts were really low, which was a concern. Praise Jesus it just ended up being roseola, and the rash that is usually the diagnosing factor in that, just came super late for him and was not that prominent. Overall he was sick for 10 days and it was absolutely heartbreaking!
We started weaning very slowly around 12.5-13 months. Up until then, he was still nursing every 2-4 hours during the day and through out the night as needed. I started by dropping his feedings in the night (it was hard for the first night, but then he did just fine taking his paci and going back to sleep). Then I slowly dropped a nursing session every few days until we were just nursing at night before bed and first thing in the morning. Our last nursing session was just shy of Everett turning 14 months. It was such a bittersweet time. I cherished those times more than anything, and I hated for them to come to an end, but on the other hand... it was so nice to be able to eat like a normal person again! I had not eaten at a restaurant (besides Chickfila french fries and Chipotle) since Everett was 5 weeks old... so for over a year, and it was so exciting to be able to be normal again and enjoy all of my favorite things that I missed so much :) However, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat for my sweet boy.
I can't believe I didn't do an official more detailed post like the others for his big 1 year update, but this will have to do! What an amazing year it was... Everett, you are our greatest joy!

We are just 11 days away from Everett turning the big O-N-E so I figured I better get month 10-11 posted before its too late! I started this a few weeks ago but just had time to get the words on this picture today. So here is month 10-11 :)
Size: He weighs a little over 24 pounds 5 ounces and I’m not sure on his height but I think around 30ish inches. Still in size 4 diapers and wearing mostly 12-18 month clothes which some 18-24 month stuff.
Milestones: A week after he turned 10 months old he took off! We officially have a full time walker on our hands! I thought he might still prefer crawling for a few weeks or months but as soon as he learned he could walk, he really never turned back. He walks everywhere and loves walking around outside in the grass and all over the house! He got 2 more teeth this month (on the top) so he now has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth. As far as talking, he mostly still says “dada” all the time, but also says mama, and “Dede” for Drake. We call our black lab Drakey and Everett LOVES his “dede” more than anything. He also loves throwing his hands up in a touchdown motion and saying “dooowwwwn.” It’s the cutest.
Health: Big, healthy, and happy boy, no sickness from 10-11 months.
Sleep: I sometimes struggle a bit with sharing about sleep because I really just like to record this for personal reference to go back and look but I realize people besides myself read this blog, therefore writing about our sleep situation often brings upon unsolicited sleep advice ;) I realize others just want to help, but also realizing that every baby is different and what works for one child will most likely not work for the next is crucial when it comes to the topic of sleep. With that said, I honestly didn’t think we would still be in the place we are with sleep at 11 months, but our sweet boy is just not a great sleeper. He hasn’t slept through the night since he was 5.5 months old and he only did that for 3 nights back then. I don’t say that to complain, just to document. (Although I am most definitely guilty of complaining about sleep stuff, ha!) He sleeps 12 hours at night but still wakes several times. He has been giving some 3 and 4 hours stretches though which is an improvement from the last few months. He officially dropped his third nap and has taken just 2 naps a day this past month. He naps in the morning between 1 and 2 hours and later in the afternoon for about hour usually.
Eating: He is still nursing throughout the day which is usually every 2-4 hours. He is still loving finger foods and has eaten a few pureed things from pouches that I have made as well as a couple store bought ones. His favorite foods this past month include: black beans (he could eat an entire can- they are his favorite food hands down), puffs, bananas, carrots, brown rice pasta, pears, prunes, peaches, green peas, and spinach!
Favorites & Other Fun Stuff: Drake is still Everett’s favorite thing in the world. There have been a handful of times this past month when he actually started crying/throwing a small fit when we went upstairs to take a bath or change his diaper and left Drake downstairs. He laughs and smiles so big and wants to walk around and play with Drake all the time. Reading books is another favorite. He loves being rocked to sleep and became attached to a blankie this month and it is the sweetest thing ever. He still loves riding in his stroller, singing songs, drinking from straws, playing with Daddy, going to his grandparent’s houses, and making the biggest mess he can with all of his toys
Moments I never want to forget from this month: This past month has definitely been one for the books as you officially became a walker and have now been able to explore the world in a whole new way! You are so curious about everything and love exploring everywhere you can. You are such a happy baby and you bring us indescribable joy! We cannot believe a whole year has almost passed since we first met you, but we hardly remember what life was like before you! You have the sweetest little soul, a very determined spirit, and are always full of energy and giggles. We praise Jesus for all He has taught us about His love and His goodness through the past 11 months as your Mommy and Daddy. You are loved more than you could ever know, precious angel.

Two weekends ago we headed to Boone Hall Plantation's pumpkin patch for some family fun and to pick out a pumpkin! Everett loved riding the tractor, seeing all the farm animals in the petting zoo, and playing in the dirt in the pumpkin patch. I truly can't even handle his cuteness in his little overalls! Despite the fact that it was nearly 90 degrees (happy fall from Charleston!) we had a fun afternoon. Here are some pics :)
The cutest little one toothed grin there ever was ;)
Cooling off with his sippy of water! I love his sweet little faces here.
Loves his sippy! And his Da-da!
Me and my little punkin!
Happy Fall from the Tomlinsons!

Size: I think he weighs a little over 23 pounds and is 29-30 inches but I don’t know exacts since we haven’t been to the doctor in a while. He is still in size 4 diapers and wearing 12-18 month clothes.
Milestones: He is still a busy little bee and loves getting into anything and everything he can. He started taking 2-4 steps at a time this past month. He also learned to clap this month! Those top front teeth finally broke through this past month and the two on either side of those will probably break through any day now. He is still babbling (mostly da-da-da-da-da-da) and loves to hear himself talk! He is a little chatterbox. He has a few little sounds that he associates with things but I’m pretty much the only person that knows what he is “saying” because I am with him all the time ;) Eyes are still blue!
Health: Thankfully we had another very healthy month. Praying the cooler weather doesn’t bring on any sickness or colds!
Sleep: Night time sleep is still the same, but his naps have gotten a lot better and more consistent. He naps for 1.5 (sometimes 2) hours in the morning and then 45 mins to 1 hour in the afternoon. He started dropping his third nap towards the end of the month and that has been really great because he now goes much longer stretches of being awake and happy!
Eating: Everett still nurses on demand which is typically about every 2-3 hours. This month he decided he LOVED finger foods and was over purees. Up until this past month, he would completely freak out if anything solid even touched his lips. I bought him some allergen free organic sweet potato puffs and he would literally gag/choke/panic if it even touched his lips. I was starting to get a little worried but the pediatrician assured me it was ok and some babies just take a little longer to want textured foods. I kept offering different things to him and figured he would let me know when he was ready. Well, one day he just picked up his puffs, didn’t choke, and absolutely loved them. It was like something just clicked overnight and he never turned back! He also ate some chunks of banana that first day too and did great! His favorite foods this past month have been: sweet potato puffs aka baby crack (seriously, he is obsessed/addicted to these things), banana chunks, steamed carrots, brown rice pasta, butternut squash, pears, and black beans.
Favorites & Other Fun Stuff: Everett and I started a mommy-and-me Kindermusik class this month and he has really enjoyed it! He loves music (and trying to eat all the intruments). He also really loves being read to, and will sit in my lap and as I read book after book after book! It really is the only time he sits still for longer than a few seconds, ha! He especially loves his tiny Baby Einstein books from Aunt Bray Bray and all of his touch and feel books. He also loves showing off his new skill of clapping, playing airplane, and being tickled. He is SO ticklish and loves when we tickle him! He loves splashing in the bath and has lately just discovered how to get water everywhere and totally soak Daddy during bath time. He loves being outside, taking walks, and swinging in his swing. He loves going to Target and the grocery store and riding in the buggy and trying to grab things off the shelves. He developed a new favorite show this month (don’t judge) and loves the trains on Thomas & Friends! He still loves drinking water from his straw sippy cup and feeding himself like a big boy. He also loves feeding Drake off of his highchair and thinks it is the funniest thing ever.
Moments I never want to forget from this month: This has been such a fun month sweet boy. You amaze us every single day with all the new things you are learning. You make us so proud. It is truly amazing to see the world through your bright and curious eyes. I never knew something as simple as turning a light switch on and off repeatedly could bring someone so much joy! I feel so blessed that I get to stay home with you and experience all of your firsts. I wouldn’t trade our days for anything in the entire world. Seeing you belly laugh until you can’t catch your breath literally almost makes my heart explode (and Daddy’s, too!). We simply can’t get enough of you and your silly personality. You are so smart, so determined, and so sweet. You are the happiest boy and the joy you bring to our lives is indescribable. We pray that you will see and experience the love of Jesus through our love for you. We thank Him every night for the gift of your life. Precious boy, I hope you never forget how loved you are. You are a treasure, sweet child of the King.
A silly outtake our wild little man!

Our big boy is as sweet as ever, busy as ever, and so incredibly strong willed. He gives the best kisses in the world, is into EVERYTHING, and has officially learned how to throw a fit! His personality is so big and he is such a happy boy… always smiling and laughs non stop. It’s hard to believe that Everett has now been outside of my tummy longer than he was inside. Time is flying by, just as everyone warned me it would, and I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that I will have a O-N-E year old in less than 3 months. That is just crazy! I find myself saying this with each month that passes but I really think that this past month as been my favorite so far. He is just so much fun! Here are some highlights from month 8 to 9!
Size: He weighed 22 lbs 5 ounces at his 9 month checkup. That puts him in the 88th percentile for weight and the 76th percentile for height. His head measured in the 98th percentile. Big head, big brains, right? He is still in size 4 diapers and wearing 12-18 month clothes.
Milestones: To say Everett is a busy little thing would be an understatement. He is constantly on the move!!! He crawls all over the place, pulls up on everything, and mastered standing alone and balancing on his own this past month too. He has taken one or two steps a few times, but he’s not ready to walk quite yet. He does love walking with this walker though! He started pushing it for the first time this month and now speeds when he is standing behind it! He is cruising along the couch, beds, and window seat now AND he can climb all of the stairs. He is cutting FOUR top teeth and one broke through towards the end of the month and boy have those been giving him a fit. He is not a “quick teether” as some babies are… his seem to take their sweet time coming through :( As far as talking, he still just babbles all different sounds including Mama and Dada mixed in a lot :) He understands so many different phrases and is such a smart boy! Another random fact... his eyes are still blue. I have brown and Russ has green eyes so we figured they might have changed by now but so far they are still blue as can be.
Health: No sickness this month, praise the Lord! I have added a few things back into my diet and he tolerated some of them well and some of them I had to cut back out. I am still dairy, soy, gluten, oat, nut, and egg free (basically, all.the.things. ha!) but I really feel the healthiest I have ever felt and I have learned so much about the nasty stuff I used to put in my body and even when we are finished with our breastfeeding journey I know many of my new eating habits will stick with me. However, I will tell you that I
Sleep: This has somehow gotten worse… and I didn’t even think that was possible. Yikes! Overall, he sleeps 12 hours… but… he wakes usually every 2-3 hours. Some nights he is up every 1-2 hours with teething and some nights he will give a few longer stretches but those are few and far between. He always starts out in his crib but then comes to our bed at some point. His naps have been pretty consistent this past month. He takes about an hour to hour and a half nap in the morning. Another hour nap in the early afternoon, and a 30-40 minute nap in the late afternoon. Some days (rarely) he will take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon and then he usually skips that last cat nap if so. We wouldn’t be surviving these sleepless times without my momma. She comes to the rescue on days when I am too tired to function and I am beyond thankful for her help. Everett is literally obsessed with his Lolly so he LOVES when she comes over to play.
Eating: Everett still nurses on demand which is typically about every 2-3 hours but sometimes its every hour if he is teething and wants to comfort nurse to fall asleep for a nap or something. He also eats 3 solid meals (of purees) a day as well. His favorites this month are bananas, pears, sweet potatoes, and carrots.
Favorites & Other Fun Stuff: Like I mentioned before, Everett is into everythinggg! While he has a million toys of all shapes and sizes (that light up, sing songs, and all sorts of neat things) his favorite things to play with include: my phone, our iPhone chargers (and/or any cord he can get his hands on), Drake’s dog food bowl, all knobs, door stoppers, magazines, empty water bottles, and Tupperware. I don’t even know why we bother buying toys, ha! Obviously a few of those things he isn’t allowed to play with so we have had to start baby proofing the house. He still loves his Avent pacis (but usually only for going to sleep now). His favorite thing in the world is probably Drake. He loves books, especially Brown Bear, Brown Bear and all of his touch and feel books. He gets soooo excited when he sees his sippy cup and he loves drinking a few ounces of water from it throughout the day. He loves playing peekaboo and laughs so hard each time. He is learning how to clap and has done it a few times but doesn’t have it mastered quite yet. We are also still working on waving bye bye. He is still very attached to Mommy but is crazy about his Daddy too. When Russ walks in the door each night Everett practically leaps out of my arms to get to Daddy! We have been going on stroller walks around the neighborhood on nights where it isn’t ridiculous hot or humid and it’s our absolute favorite time of the day. Everett loves being outside and it usually relaxes him after dinner before his bath and bedtime. Russ built him a little swing set a few weeks ago and he absolutely LOVES to swing. He could probably swing for an hour if it wasn’t so dang hot outside! We are very ready for fall weather!
Moments I never want to forget from this month: Sweet boy, you are my greatest joy. Even though we have some tough days/nights with our sleep struggles, I wouldn’t trade the hours spent rocking you, the snuggles in our bed, and nursing you back to sleep for anything in the world. I know that these times will be gone before I know it and I want to soak up every ounce of you while you are still my baby. Well, actually, you will always be my baby : ) I don’t ever want to forget the way you try to stall your naps by standing up in my lap and kissing me on the mouth! It makes me laugh every single time and it also melts my heart. You are such a smart and strong willed boy and you sure do know how to fight a nap when you want to. You are so determined and you don’t want to miss out on anything! I love the way you adore your Daddy and how you have to find the button on his shirt every morning and every night when he gets home. You are so curious and always exploring. I pray that you never stop exploring as long as you live. I pray that your strong spirit and determination are used to glorify the Lord one day. I can already see specific traits and characteristics forming that God gifted you with and I am confident that He is going to do mighty things through your life. Everett, you are my little warrior boy… strong, mighty, and brave. I love you with all that I am!
The sweetest smile in all the land!
"Ok Mom, I've had enough with the pictures already..."
He is so proud... such a big boy!!
Anddd... he's off!

Month 7 to 8 has been a BIG month for Everett. He is officially a baby on the move! Here are some highlights from the past month.
Size: He weighs 21 lbs 8 ounces and I am not 100% sure on his height but I think it’s around 29-30 inches. We will get an official measurement again at his 9 month checkup. He is still in size 4 diapers and still wearing some 9 month onesies, but mainly 12-18 month clothes.
Milestones: I am officially declaring this the month of a million milestones! Holy cow it has been crazy watching him master so many new skills and become mobile! He started wiggling his way around shortly after he turned 7 months and had mastered crawling within about a week and a half. He is such a determined little boy! He pulled up for the first time on July 26th right as we were packing the car to head to Litchfield Beach with the Tomlinson’s and he continued to pull up nonstop while we were there! He was SO proud of himself once he realized he could do it and he literally hasn’t stopped for a single second ever since! Within the first 3 days of learning to pull up he mastered pulling up on the pack-n-play, the bed, his crib, the couch, the bathtub, the dishwasher, and even on a wall! He is so strong it blows my mind. He is seriously the busiest little thing and has to be moving at all times. He might sit in one spot for a few seconds and play with a toy but within a minute or less he has usually taken off to find something dangerous to pull up on! As much as I try to watch his every move, we have definitely had lots of falls, bumps, and bruises over the past few weeks. Everett also got his first two teeth this past month (two on the bottom). Oh, and perhaps the MOST exciting thing about this past month was Everett said his first word… Dada! He has started babbling and practicing new sounds a lot more this past month. He can recognize so many words now for example when I say “are you hungry?” he gets SO excited and knows he is about to nurse, ha! I also say “Where is Drakey?” and he looks all around for the dog until he finds him. He can understand so much and it has been so fun to watch him make connections between things and get excited in response!
Health: I added in this category this month because Everett came down with some yuck that ended up turning into walking pneumonia this month :( What started out as a cold last month turned into a sinus infection, then an upper respiratory infection, and then moved into his lungs and turned into walking pneumonia. We had to put him on two different antibiotics to get rid of the mess. It was so pitiful hearing him so congested and coughing. Broke this momma’s heart! He is all better now and back to his happy healthy self! Also, we also changed reflux medicine this past month and it has been working SO much better! The new medicine has made all the difference in the world for him and he is doing so great in regards to reflux… so thankful!
Sleep: Huh, what’s that? Ha! The majority of the month was extremely rough with Everett getting his first two teeth and being so sick, but as he got over being sick he started to sleep a little bit better. He typically still wakes 2-3 times a night and I rock and/or nurse him back to sleep. He is in his crib most nights for the majority of the night and comes to our bed usually around his 3-5am wake up so we can get the most sleep possible. He has been taking 3 naps a day, sometimes 4 if he decides to just take quick little 30 minute cat naps!
Eating: Everett still breastfeeds about every 2 hours and eats 2-3 solid meals (of purees) a day as well. We were on a roll with 3 meals a day until he got really sick and lost his appetite. He was probably nauseous from all the mucous etc. he had plus his medicines upset his tummy pretty bad so we didn’t try a lot of new foods this month. We kept it simple with pears and sweet potatoes for the most part when he would eat. We are looking forward to trying lots of new foods now that his appetite is back!
Favorites & Other Fun Stuff: As I said before, he LOVES crawling all over and pulling up on any and every single thing he can! He also became addicted to a new pacifier this month and has not stopped sucking it ever since! We also finally found a sippy cup that he likes this month. It took a few tries, but he now loves his straw sippy cup. He usually only takes a few sips of water each time but he gets super excited and loves it! He loves giving Mommy kisses (and does it on command now… the sweetest!), watching Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, singing songs, and being outside. He also really started showing an interest in books this past month. For the last several months he really has just wanted to eat the books, ha! He continues to be obsessed with Drake and loves crawling all over him, pulling his ears, and getting handfuls of hair in his hands (ah!) He also loves playing with his Daddy! Russ coming home each night is still the highlight of our day! He loves being rocked to sleep for his naps and at bedtime and would prefer to sleep on Mommy than in his crib ;-) Oh, and another exciting thing that happened over this past month is that Everett will finally sleep in the car again! He stopped sleeping in the car around 3 months (I think?) and for him to nap in the car again is a total game changer.
Moments I never want to forget from this month: Your first trip to Litchfield (although you aren’t a huge fan of the sand and ocean), visiting Daddy and T-Daddy at work, and watching you become such a busy little boy! The way you light up when you see your Daddy every day. The big smiles you give me when you wake up from a good nap in your crib. How proud you are of yourself when you pull up on something new. All of the wet slobbery kisses you give. Listening to you laugh SO hard with the most precious giggle in all of the world!
