1 month

Baby boy is 1 month old today. How in the world is that even possible?! Now I understand why I always hear other moms say things like, "the days might be long but the weeks are short!" and "they grow up way too fast!" etc. So I am joining the rest of you moms out there and am going to go ahead and say it... This past month has literally flown by and I cannot believe my baby is already 1 month old! It has been a whirlwind of a month with lots of family time, Christmas, and visitors. I have never been so sleep deprived in my life but I truly wouldn't have it any other way. I consider it an honor to be Everett's "lifeline" as Russ likes to say. He changes more and more every single day and we are trying to savor each minute.

He is seriously such a little joy. I probably shouldn't say "little" because he is a BIG boy. Last week he weighed 10 lbs. 2 ounces and he has been gaining over an ounce a day! He has already outgrown almost all of his newborn clothes too. Both Russ and I were pretty big babies too so at least he gets it honest :) He absolutely loves to eat & according to the lactation consultants he is an "extremely efficient eater" too. We had some tough days at first, but he is now a little breastfeeding champ! He eats every 2-3 hours during the day and every 3-4 hours at night. Occasionally he will have a 5 hour stretch between feedings at night.

During the day he loves to be held, rocked, & talked to. He is a very active and very alert baby. He likes tummy time (most of the time) and being in his Snug-a-Bunny swing that Santa brought him. He also loves when I wear him in my Baby K'tan sling. Baby boy loves being close to Mommy! Another thing he loves is worship music. Sometimes when he gets fussy we will try everything imaginable to calm him down and then the second we turn on worship music he instantly calms down. Sweet thing loves him some Jesus jams! It makes sense considering I played music for him all the time when he was in my tummy and he was also brought into this world with worship music blaring in the background.

He usually only gets fussy when he is hungry, overly tired, or if he has a wet diaper. He cannot stand to have a dirty diaper! A few more dislikes include: being swaddled in his miracle blanket at night (he loves it once he is all wrapped up but the act of getting him in it is definitely not his favorite), getting strapped in his car seat (again, he usually does good once we get going but he does not like being put in that thing), he also doesn't like when the car stops or if the sun is shining in his eyes. Other than those few things, he is a pretty happy baby!

A few more random things... he gets the hiccups all.the.time. just like when he was in my tummy. He is also super strong and has crazy neck strength. He always shocks everyone when they hold him by how strong his neck/head are. He makes the silliest faces and sweetest sounds. He fits just perfectly on my chest and I could cuddle him all day long... and maybe sometimes I do ;) Russ and I find ourselves just staring at him all the time and talking about how precious we think he is. We literally cannot get enough of him! Although I have only known our son for 1 month I really do feel like I could already write an entire novel about him.

Sweet boy, you are such a blessing. You have taught us so much in the past month and we are so grateful for the gift of your life. We feel confident that the Lord has big plans for you and we are so excited to see all of your days unfold. You are the cutest thing in the whole wide world and we couldn't possibly be more in love with you. Truly, we love you more than you will ever know... a love that cannot even be put into words. You are our precious treasure and we are still so humbled that God chose us to be your parents.
